Government sponsored plans for analog T.V
So in the early part of 2009 many of your T.V.’s will stop working. Antenna T.V.’s that do not have cable, usually older models before the whole H.D phenomenon. People, this is inevitable, welcome to the future. The government is sponsoring a rebate plan so you can still use your old set. Walmart sells these digital receivers that you need to connect to your old HD sans set, and voila you will salvage it from an untimely death. When you purchase this receiver they will give you a mail in rabate which pretty much covers the cost of this new gadget. I believe the receivers range about $ 40-$50, but we can thank our government for helping us out with that, due to their new incentive. Now a days these flat screens and Plasma T.V. are made to last for about 7-10 years, yes it is true, so if you have an older picture tube set hold dear to it because chances are it is going to last you longer than the new ones. We are in a money making society, of course the norm keeps on changing, how else would these companies make their money. Unfortunately this is one argument we cannot win, as you already have noticed, your local channels have already launched sindacation in H.D. High Definition is pretty much a better picture and sound, just like when you switch from a 35 mm. camera to digital. All of this in my opinion is a mass market media ploy to suck more money out of our ever depleting pocketts but oh well, there is nothing we can do about it.
