Why the bad breath?

Most of the times bad breath is not the cause of what you ate for lunch!  Take it from me, I am in the business.  Often times bad breath is caused by poor dental hygene, tooth decay, viceral problems (intestinal tract problems), periodontic disease ( inside of the gums) and of course eating too much garlic or onions for lunch.  I have found that the common cause in most of my young patients is just bad hygene, yes people, we floss for a reason, not only does the food lodged in your teeth cause tooth decay, it also causes bad odor.  Food that has expired and left in the fridge for a while becomes moldy, that is the same issue when it is left inbetween your teeth.  Sometimes the causes go deeper, periodontic disease cannot be treated with just flossing, it requires care from your specialist.  When the constant smell of illness lingers around you ( most of the time you cannot smell it, others can), you probably have issues deep in your gums.  When the gums surrounding your teeth start receding do to pocketts that form around your teeth, you are at risk for this disease ( food particles linger in these spaces and start decaying).  Usually deep cleaning of the teeth and roots can solve this problem within a year. Other times, bad breath is caused by intestine issues, stomach viruses, etc. in this case cleaning out your system would help, and yes drink lots of water.
