Never do business with Family!

Yes, this is true, if you know what is good for you, do yourself a favor and never discuss or do business with family.  One of my family members is a realtor, a fairly new and inexperienced one.  Well, feelings got hurt when they were not asked for representation in purchasing a new home and selling the existing one. Yes my house is up for sale, however, I did give this person a chance and it just did not work. Family always holds your best interest right? Wrong! Sure they love you, but they also want to make some money off of you, and wether it be real estate, owning a liquor store, tailoring shop, being a physician, well they are looking out for themselves as well.  So yes a favor or two is ok, but leave it at that.  You confide in your family member about certain things and next thing you know it’s on the early news.  With this whole real estate thing, the best thing is to probably get a reputable agent well know in your area, yes they will know your every financial disclosure, but at least they wont phone your family and tell them that you make more than you say! Honestly, in everyone’s best interest, just stay out, leave your family where they should be in their place gathering on Holidays and what have you. I am stuck in this vicious battle that has now expanded to my cousins mother, my mother, a few of my aunts and God only knows who else will join in, I think the drama extends to the fact that these vicious women are Italians trying to defend their kin.

I have to say to some extent I agree with you. You may also want to include friends in the mix. The fastest way to lose a best friend is to conduct business with them. Unless you are very patient and understanding when something goes wrong, you’ll lose the friendship.
