When Restless Legs don’t let you rest!
It’s been three days now and it has been almost impossible to sleep or even rest for that matter. I suffer from restless leg syndrome and it is so bad that even in complete exhaustion I cannot get comfortable and fall asleep. I am so tired of wrestling with the sheets and beating my legs against the matress. For all those who do not know what this is, it is basically a feeling of heaviness, pins and needles in the bottom half of your legs. This syndrome is a neurological problem that increases with age if affected by it. At this point in time there is no cure for it, however, in extreme cases nervous system depressants are prescribed as the one’s taken by Parkinson’s patients. I have been on edge due to the lack of sleep and unfortunately constant movement of the lower extremities is required in order to relieve some of the symptoms, which means, I have to constantly walk around at all kinds of hours of the night. Usually around morning time the symptoms start easing up, and if lucky I can get an hour and a half of uninterrupted sleep. I truly hope this gets better, honestly I can’t even think straight.
